Fair pricing for fair editing
The way a document is edited—the time it takes and skill required—depends on the content being edited, as well as the editor’s skill level and experience. Each author receives a personalised quote that takes into account your unique needs and preferences, as well as an estimate time it will take me to edit your manuscript. All of this is determined through conversation/s and a sample edit of your work (free of charge).
I understand how important an author/editor relationship is. I also understand that some manuscripts I may not be confident editing for many reasons. Because of this, there is a chance I may turn you down to ensure you can find an editor better suited to you and your story.
Most authors will require each level of editing. If you request more than one of my editing services, I can create a combined quote with a personalised editing schedule. I understand how costly professional editing can be, so I’m happy to negotiate payment plans to suit your financial needs. However, an upfront cost is required to secure the service, which is dependent on your personal quote and circumstances.
Each of my services involves one round of editing: author submits manuscript, editor sends it back with edits made. If you would like further edits or a proofread after revising my original edits, additional costs will apply.
Pricing for my editing services
I believe in fair pricing for fair editing. Each manuscript is unique and requires a certain level of skill and time to complete, which is why I offer personalised quotes to suit each author’s needs and preferences. My prices typically fall within the below ranges (all prices in AUD, listed highest to lowest):
Developmental Editing: $0.012-0.02/word
Copy & Line Editing: $0.008-0.01/word
Proofreading: $0.006-0.008/word
