Some stories are meant to be told. Others are meant to unfold.

Ivy Medina lives a simple life. At the ripe old age of 16, she spends her weekdays being homeschooled and her weekends exploring the ocean of the beach she lives on. But on this already peculiar day, her mind decides to conjure up a most vivid dream where she swims through an underwater tunnel and into the captivating world of Harukai, eerily similar to her mother’s whimsical fairytales.

Only Harukai is anything but a dream, and upon returning home, everything she’s ever known is quite literally torn from her hands as her mother is taken captive. Now trapped in Harukai after being dragged away against her will, Ivy ends up living inside a tree, inherits a pile of old books, and finds a sword made of glass.

With a mysteriously friendly faun and a flirtatious, yet slightly irritating, merfolk by her side, Ivy reads more than she ever had in her life, and learns how to fight, all in the name of finding a way home and rescuing her mother. But her search leads to her discovering the truth about her past, her present, and her future, causing relentless questions to flood her mind: Why was her mother taken? Who is Ivy to these people? And is she really as trapped in this world as she first thought?
